Mount Mitchell Scenic Overlook in Atlantic Highlands

The Mount Mitchell Scenic Overlook is located in the charming shore town of Atlantic Highlands, New Jersey. The little park is a jewel of the Monmouth County system.
At 266 feet, this overlook sits on the highest natural elevation on the Atlantic seaboard (excluding islands) from Maine to the Yucatan and provides beautiful views of Sandy Hook, Sandy Hook Bay, Raritan Bay and the New York skyline. This 12-acre site is also home to Monmouth County's 9/11 Memorial, partly because of the view of NYC in the distance.
The eagle in the top photo and the next two photos is clenching a mangled steel I-Beam from one of the World Trade Center towers in its talons.
