In honor of spring training, the real Yankee Stadium in the Bronx, New York City.
The New York Yankees had a record-setting season that year and went on to win the World Series in dominant fashion. They were the best team that I'll see in my lifetime, partly because they won the World Series four out of five years, and partly because they won in such convincing fashion.
These photographs were taken sometime during the summer of 1998 with an Advantix camera, either a Minolta Vectis GX-2 or a Kodak 3700ix. Those were my cameras of choice at that time, because I could take panoramic photos! I thought that was great!
The Yankees now play in a huge new stadium right across from this classic and dearly beloved stadium, and everyone uses digital cameras now.
In 1998 I had never even surfed the internet! It doesn't seem that long ago, but times have changed rapidly.

Great shots, it must have been very emotional for all the fans when the old stadium closed down, always hard to accept!
ReplyDeleteSome great photos there, I bet that you had some great fun taking them.

Yes, it was a bittersweet day for the fans. There was so much history at the old Stadium.

It was a special place.
ReplyDeleteHopefully the "new" Yankee Stadium will have many great future moments, too!
ReplyDeleteThank you very much!
ReplyDeleteI lived in NJ for a few years (Little Falls). I found the old Yankee Stadium when I got lost looking for the cloisters. Nice photos.
ReplyDeleteI saw the name of your blog on Manzanita's and had to come and visit. I'm from Sweden originally and now live in California, but when I was young, I lived in NJ for 12 years. Most of the time in Princeton and Belle Mead. I'm sure reading about your state will bring back memories of all kinds.
ReplyDeleteI signed in using my google ID and these initials that I don't use anywhere on my blog, except to sign in showed up instead of my name, which is Inger, or my blog name, Canyon Girl. The latter will show up with my photo as a new follower of your blog. Just so you know who I am.
ReplyDeleteA Swedish girl who lived in Jersey! Yay! My mother was born and grew up in Sweden!
ReplyDeleteI hope in the next few months to write more about New Jersey. I can't wait until the weather gets warmer and I can explore this interesting state!
