I remember looking at your photos from last week and commenting that my mother would be jealous of all the irises! Once again, these gardens do mine justice. This week I can really see the beauty in the flowers themselves. Thank you for sharing your pictures, and Happy WW!
That is an impressive garden, nice to see more views this week. I particular like the first picture with the bridge. Makes me think of some compositional ideas.
@Sarah -- Wild irises must be so beautiful. I just spent some time in the Colorado Rockies in March. But the it was still snowing and the flowers hadn't bloomed. It must be even more beautiful then.

I've never seen an Iris garden! When I lived in CT I went to the Rose Garden in Elizabeth Park and have been to the Conservatory Gardens in Central Park - BUT I love Irises and what a treat to see so many. Thanks.
For many years Channel 11, WPIX in New York City ( one of the oldest TV stations in the country ), would present the " Yule Log " on Christmas Eve. While the Yule Log burned, Christmas carols would play. Now my childhood home did have a fireplace, but there was something about the Yule Log on Channel 11 that made us happy. It became a New York area tradition. I hope you enjoy it! This particular Yule Log was shown in 1983.
Several months ago I wrote about Kip's Castle, which is located in parts of both Verona (8 acres) and Montclair, New Jersey (2 acres). Frederic Ellsworth Kip was a wealthy man who had his home constructed to look like a Norman castle. In the 1980's it was inhabited by a weird religious cult.
The Iris Presby Memorial Iris Gardens in Upper Montclair, New Jersey is possibly the largest and most diverse iris garden in the world. Every May and June thousands of lovely irises bloom.
Such beautiful gardens. :) Gerry
ReplyDeletejudos to the gardner(s) who maintained it!
