The Iris Presby Memorial Iris Gardens in Upper Montclair, New Jersey is possibly the largest and most diverse iris garden in the world. Every May and June thousands of lovely irises bloom.

The building above is Walther House, including The Bloom Room, the gift shop where flowers and other related iris-related items are located. For more information on this lovely New Jersey garden, visit the Garden website

  41. How beautiful! I wish I'd known about it back when I used to live in West Orange, though maybe it isn't that old.

I canvased Upper Montclair raising money for an environmental organization one summer back in college, it's such a beautiful town, and so completely different from Israel, where I've spent the ensuing twenty years. Thanks for a fun walk down memory lane.

We have lots of deer in Essex County, too. They are everywhere. My boyfriend's mother used to grow tomatoes in her yard and had to move the tomato plants inside a fence because the deer kept eating them.
