The Greatest Gift

The family of Maria Pomavilla, a Newark, New Jersey teenager who was struck by a hit-and-run driver, donated her organs so that others might live. Eastside High School paid tribute to the Pomavilla family and they were able to meet some of the recipients of those organs.

  1. That is so beautiful. I had not been an organ donor for several years (just added it at my last license renewal). I always had the crazy thought that they wouldn't really work on me hard in the emergency room so they could harvest my organs if I was a donor (nutso, I know).

  2. @Ms. Understood -- That video breaks your heart doesn't it? I was watching it on the New York news tonight and felt like crying. I knew that I wanted to share it with my visitors.

  3. Oh no.... It's so heartbreaking. Sobs:( Hello, stopping by from SITS. My husband is from NJ and he's communting between NJ and FL now. I also lived in NJ for a year three years ago - such a pretty state.

    Anyway, I'll stop by again:)

  4. Maki -- yes, New Jersey is a pretty state. I'm tired of the bad reputation it has.
